NATIONAL PAINTING COMPETITION OBSERVED


Gangtok, August 24: Sikkim State Council for Child Welfare affiliated to Indian Council for Child Welfare is registered NGO in the state. The Council organized the National Painting Competition (Sit and Draw) on 19th August 2007 at Taekwandow Hall at Palzor Stadium for some of the schools in Gangtok. The objective of organizing such competition is to provide opportunities for the students to participate at the national level Painting Competition. Guidelines were provided by ICCW. Children were grouped in five according to age including special group for differently able children (Hearing Impaired). 15 painting were selected in each category of painting who were asked to paint as per the theme provided. 50 children participated from Senior Secondary School of Deorali, Enchey, Modern, Tadong, T.N.S.S., West Point and Padam Ozor Choeling and School for hearing Impaired Sichey under D.D.R.C. The judges for the painting were Mr. T.K. Lahiri and Mr. Bijoy Pradhan.These paintings will be sent to the Indian Council for Child Welfare, New Delhi where they will be further exhibited with rest of the States some time in October 2007. The selected painting of children will be provided scholarships.
