NATIONAL ENVIRONMENT & AWARENESS CAMPAIGN: 2007-08

Gangtok, August 26: Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management Department Government of Sikkim has been designated as the Regional Resource Agency by the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India for co-coordinating Environment Awareness Programme under National Environment Awareness Campaign.The approval theme for current year's programme is "BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION". Applications are, therefore invited from interested NGOs, educational institutions, Training Institutions, Scientific bodies, Government Institutions etc. for taking up concrete action oriented activities on Biodiversity Conservation. The following are some of the themes based on which action oriented proposal can be submitted:(1) Survey/Inventorization (2) wetland Conservation (3) Plantation (including Medicinal plants), (4) Seed banks/collection, (5) Demonstration Programme, (6) Cleaning of water bodies (7) Preparation of biodiversity registers environment improvement etc.The prescribed format and the guidelines can be downloaded from the web site hptt://www.envfor.nic.in and www.sikenvis.nic.in/ and also obtained from the office of Conservation of Forest (LU&E)- Department of Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management, Government of Sikkim, Deorali, Gangtok. The last date of submission of Proposal is 20th September 2007
