Dr. Chamling reissues withdraw Hunger Strike appeal


Gangtok: On his arrival at New Delhi, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling has once again appealed to the members of the ACT to call off their hunger strike and create a congenial atmosphere and invited them to discuss their concerns with him, informs a press release issued by IPR on August 19,2007
The release reiterates that hydel projects have been planned as tools to deliever sustainable development in Sikkim.
The release also draws attention to the Prime Minister’s independence day address in which he announced that the country had fixed a target of generating One lakh mega watt electricity by end of the11th Five Year Plan and requested all States of the country to initiate immediate action to meet the target .
This release adds further that even Deputy Chairperson ,National Planning Commission Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia ,has appreciated the initiative taken by the State Government towards harnessing the hydel potential through investment by ‘power producers and public sector units’
