Gangtok: The Sikkim Government College at Tadong, Gangtok in compliance of criteria for admission in College as laid out by Human Resources Development Department (HRDD) through its notification that only students who have secured more than 55% marks in their senior secondary level may be only enrolled in for college for this academic year.
An admission crisis has resulted due to above guidelines by Education Department as students below 55% marks coming up with complaints pertaining to their further studies in light of this restriction of Sikkim Government College.
This year Sikkim Government College plans to enroll approximately 1000 students in its all streams including vocational. The students planning for vocational courses are facing tougher admission criteria of 75% marks instead of 55% in all other categories."If I would have secured 75% in vocational,then I would have preferred to go out of state for higher education" opinion ed a student who has secured 71% in vocational.
