Ramesh Rasaily (17), a class VIII student dies at Sevoke Landslide

SILIGURI, April 22: Ramesh Rasaily (17), a class VIII student and resident of Sikkim, died in a landslide at Sevoke this afternoon. The victim had been waiting near the Coronation Bridge at Sevoke to catch up a Sikkim-bound vehicle when the mishap took place. According to police, Ramesh was returning home from Chamurchi in Dooars. He was accompanied by two of his classmates. The trio got down near the Coronation Bridge to catch up a vehicle for Namthum, Sikkim, their native place. Around 12.45 pm, as they were waiting for the vehicle to arrive, a spilt-up stone slide fell on Ramesh’s head. While the boy died on the spot, his friends ~ Sudeb Rai and Mondorji Tamang ~ sustained minor injuries. A police team from Sevoke immediately reached the spot and sent the body to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. The two injured teenagers were released from the NBMCH after first-aid.Later, the grief-stricken family members of Ramesh reached Siliguri to collect the body
