GANGTOK, April 25: The North Eastern Multi State Insurance Co-operative Society Ltd (NEMSICS) today strongly condemned the news item published in a local daily dated 21 April with headline ‘Congress eyes unsettled Nemsics quandary’. Regional Manager to Nemsics NK Das opined the allegations made upon NEMSICS as entirely fake and baseless.
Speaking to Sikkim Express today NK Das clarified that without carrying the prior knowledge about the objectives and mechanism of NEMSICS, the Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee (SPCC) has simply blown the issue out of proportion.
Das said NEMSICS is not a NGO (as mentioned in the news), but a cooperative society with an aim and objective to promote life insurance and general insurance coverage to its members in particular and rural and urban people developing a proper perspective and proximity.
He added that NEMSICS is neither a fictious nor a disguised company as reported in the news, but to encourage, motivate, teach and enable the masses to save from their earnings by adopting different suitable life and general insurance schemes.
It was also reported that the society has applied for the license of Insurance Regulatory Development Authority (IRDA), which is expected shortly. Talking over the issue of deposited money by the people, he considered it as a share holder deposits that can be withdrawn according to the norms and rules of the society.
He too informed that the representative Director from NEMSICS had already visited the Head Office at Guwahati and has authenticated the credibility of NEMSICS. As reported in the news regarding Sikkimese and Non-Sikkimese matter, the Regional Manager said NEMSICS firmly believes in unity in diversity and has always been aloof from the people who entertain communal disharmony in this peaceful abode of clouds.
Stating NEMSICS as entirely non-political society, the Regional Manager has also appealed the political parties not to make NEMSICS a political issue for vested interests.
