O n Friday 27th April 2007 Sikkim will play host to tourism industry bigwigs and VVIP presence from the Center and Northeastern states when the 4th Sectoral Summit on Tourism & Hospitality Industry begins its two-days meet at Chintan Bhawan here in Gangtok.
Tomorrow the Summit will kick-start its first session at 11 AM with a welcome address by Minister,DONER & Chairman, NEC Mani Shankar Aiyer,Union Minister for Tourism Ambika Soni will address gathering of tourism ministers and officials from the northeastern states. This will be followed by address by Secretary DONER and NEC, Sushma Singh.
A presentation on ‘Tourism & Hospitality Industry in North East Region’ by the Ministry of Tourism shall then precede a presentation by NEDFi.
Post Lunch Session will witness discussion and presentations by the participating states. In the evening, the delegate shall attend dinner at Norkhill Hotel hosted by the Minister, DONER and Chairman, NEC, Mr Aiyer.
The final day of the Summit shall resume again with the opening remarks by Mr. Aiyer, followed by presentations from ITDC & IL&FS, an interactive session with private stakeholders in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry.
Indian Association of Tour Operators, Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Association, Hotel Association of India, Travel Agents association of India are listed next on the itinerary, followed by the discussions.
Post lunch session will feature more discussions among the participants, the wrap and conclusion to the Summit, followed by Vote of Thanks delivered by the Secretary DONER & NEC.
A Press Conference is slated to be held later in the evening at 5pm, followed by a cultural programme presentation and dinner at Samman Bhawan hosted by Chief Minister Pawan Chamling
