Security Guards beat up Sun Pharma HR Head in Sikkim factory

Gangtok,June10: A top official of the Sun Pharma was left hospitalized when he was allegedly beaten up during an altercation with factory security guards today morning at the factory premises near Ranipool.

Police have detained all the fifty male security guards of the factory and are taking statements from them on the incident.A case of the assualt and rioting has been registered against them under section 147,149,341 and 323 of IPC ,said Ranipool police station-in-charge -police inspector Parshu Sharma.
Sharma informed that a complaint was made by the Sun Pharma Management around 10 a.m. alleging some security guards of manhandling and assaulting factory officials today morning.
One senior Sun Pharma official has been admitted at hospital in Gangtok while others are also receiving medical attention. We are awaiting further details from them", said Sharma.
The injured official has been identified as Prabhakar Rao,head of HR Cell at Sikkim Sun Pharma unit.
Though it is unclear what triggered the altercation and subsequent assault on human resources head of factory.The reports indicates that security guards were outraged over the delay of their salaries and were apprehensive of their future as the security guards as a new security agency is scheduled to be handed over Security job of factory from next month.

There are 60 security guards working for the Sun Pharma factory,out of which ten are women.It is alleged by some security guards that officials have used abusive language during the shift change in morning and they also complained of delay in salary and fear of losing their jobs.
Meanwhile Sun Pharma managemnt said it is unable to share details as matter is under police investigation.We have temporary requested for police protection and officials are also doing gate duty. Admitting that another security group has been handed over security responsibilities of Sun Pharma Factory and we are also going to accommodate many from present security guards in other areas of the Company. The official pointed out that after the recent protest incident,it was agreed by all that any grievance should come through proper channel of local MLA or panchayat.If there is any grievance,we will sit down with them ans settle issue in peaceful manner.
