Gangtok: 15th June: Dr, Shova Kanti Thegim (Lepcha) Memorial Trust in its meeting held on 13th June 2011 at Gangtok approved the name of Shri Santosh Alley for the award of 14th Dr Shova Kanti Thegim(Lepcha) Smriti Purashkar-2011for his book “Karyang- kurung ko Aakaash” recommended by the two tier selection committee constituted by the Trust. In a press release issued by the Trust it has been informed that the award is presented annually on 4th July, the birth anniversary of late Dr Thegim and carries a cash award of Rs 12,001/- a Tamra Patra and a Certificate. The Award for 2011 will be presented to Shri Santosh Alley
in the Award Function to be held on 4th July 2011 at Janata Bhawan, DPH Road ,Gangtok.As per the provision contained in the Trust’s Constitution, only the books in Nepali language written/authored by all levels of writers belonging to the State of Sikkim (including permanent resident) and published during the calendar years 2007, 2008 and 2009 were eligible for the Award 2011.
Out of the entries received from wide range of writers, Shri Alley’s book “Karyang- kurung ko Aakaash” has been finally selected for the Award.Another important features of the Award Function is the presentation of Dr Shova Kanti Thegim (lepcha) Memorial Prize and Stipend comprising of cash prize of Rs 2001/ and Rs 1500/- per annum respectively to a student(s) of PNG School, is also glad to announced on the result of the Class X Board Exam. In this regard, the Trust is also glad to announce the name of Miss Arpana Basnet of Class XI for the said Prize for 2011 for securing A2 grade (9pts) in Nepali in Class X Board Exam of 2011(AISSE) and also the Stipend for pursuing her studies in Class XI with Nepali as one of the major subjects.The Trust extended hearty felicitations to Shri Santosh Alley, the Awardee selected and to Miss Arpana Basnet of P.N.G. School, Gangtok the winner of Dr Shova Kanti Thegim (Lepcha) Memorial Prize and Stipend.
