Namchi:,Nov12: The second day of 5th All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Football Tournament 2009 held Tuesday here at Bhaichung Stadium Namchi witnessed an interesting match in which the home team of Sinolchu Football Club, Namchi, recorded a remarkable victory against SAI India.
Against the well set team of SAI India, Sinolchu skillfully played the match and knocked out one of the best teams of the tournament. With huge supporters Sinolchu boys entered the ground and dominated the match from the beginning. The local team consisting of both senior and the young players was also getting the moral boost with the presence of three Nigerian players in their team.
The match became interesting from the beginning. Both the teams made a number of attempts in the goal post of the opponent team. The first half of the match ended goalless which made the match more interesting during the second half in which Benjamin Kupper (7) of Sinolchu FC, netted a beautiful goal providing his team the lead of 1-0.
SAI India played with spirit to equalize the score and their effort bore fruit at the 71st Minute of the match. Francis Xavier (2) of SAI India scored a goal making the score 1-1. After this both the teams played with more vigour and the match became more interesting. At the 88th Minute Benjamin Kupper scored his second goal and gave his team the winning lead of 2-1. With the final whistle of the referee the score stood at 2-1 in favour of the home team.
During the match, one red and three yellow cards were flashed by the referee. Pintso Bhutia of Sinolchu FC and Lalnun of SAI India got the yellow card while the hero of the day Benjamin Kupper was punished with the yellow card first and then Red card for his violent behaviour which he showed at the injury time of the match. Taking the disciplinary action the referee of the match flashed Red card to Benjamin who will now miss the next match against Arians of Kolkota.
