Former Legislator’s Federation of Sikkim (FLFS)


MLAs are to keep their image high: Sikkim Assembly Speaker

Gangtok,August11 : Former Legislator’s Federation of Sikkim (FLFS) on Monday felicitated four of its members for being elected Members of the present Legislative Assembly at the Banquet Hall of Sikkim Legislative Assembly (SLA).
Mr. K.T. Gyaltsen, Speaker SLA, Mr. M.B. Dahal, Deputy Speaker, Mr. D.B. Thapa, Minister UDHD, Mr B.S. Pant, Chairman, Power Department, were felicitated by FLFS President Mrs. R. Ongmu, General Secretary, Mr. D.B. Thatal, Vice President Mr.S.K. Pradhan and other members.
Chief Guest Mr. Gyaltsen in his address said, all the present and past members of Sikkim Legislative Assembly belong to the same family, adding Members, right from L.D. Kazi’s Government to the present Pawan Chamling Government have gathered under the same roof. He said “We all are MLAs, sent by the people to work for them. No political discrimination should be there; we have to keep the image of people’s representative high”. He promised every possible help for the former legislators.
UDHD Minister Mr. Thapa said present and former legislators should work together. He offered every possible help to the federation in constructing MLAs’ guest house in the capital. Federation’s General Secretary, D.B. Thatal gave details how the federation has been working so far.
Former Minister Mr. T. Lachungpa asked the federation to engage in social activities. He offered financial help to the federation to work to prevent youth from drug addiction and alcoholism.
Formers ministers R.B.Subba, Kalawati Subba, Somnath Poudyal, A.S. Baraily and MLAs Manita Manger, K.B. Chamling and Girish Chandra Rai, Norzang Lepcha became new members of the Federation. Mrs Hemlata Tewari and Mr.Lhoden Tshering, two Members of the State’s first Assembly were present, among others
