Gangtok:The opposition parties of Sikkim met yesterday at a local hotel to deliberate on Government ultimatum given to the protesters led by ACT to withdraw the hunger strike within 24 hours failing which the state government threatened to take necessary action.The meeting which was attended by representatives of Opposition political parties termed the government decision of ultimatum as "Murder of the democracy by ruling Sikkim Democratic Front Government" and unanimously decided to form a Joint Action Committee (JAC) of all opposition parties of state to save democracy in state with the lone Sangha MLA ,Acharaya Tshering Lama appointed as its convener,informs a media release.
The other members of the Committee includes HR Pradhan -President of state BJP,Major T.Gyatso- SPCC,Punya Prasad Koirala-CPI(M), and Tara Shrestha- General Secretary of Sikkim Himali Rajya Parishad Party.
The newly formed Joint Action Committee strongly condemned the ultimatum letter issued to the ACT.The members also appealed to the people of Sikkim to come forward to "Save Democracy".
