Siliguri Gets Nightlife

Siliguri, July 15: Whether you want to rock or laze around, Jalpaiguri has the right place for you.
The district headquarters’ first discotheque switched on its psychedelic lights tonight (see picture by Biplab Basak), while on another floor a leisure club began welcoming guests in the evening.
Jockeys’ Discotheque and The Leiser, lodged in the Hotel De’l Pretom complex, are expected to liven up the town’s night-life like never before.
“The aim is to offer entertainment to people of different age groups,” said Arup Ganguly, the general manager of the hotel. “While the discotheque will provide lively entertainment to the young, the leisure restaurant is meant for older people who want a place to chat, have food and drink.”
At Jockeys’, 70-75 couples would be allowed from 7pm to 11pm. “We will not allow single men right now. The entry fee will be Rs 150 per couple with extra charges for food and beverage,” Das said.
DJ Joy, a known face in Calcutta and Assam, will be in charge of the music. “The sound output will be around 20,000 watts,” said Joy.
“The leisure restaurant will have 150 members against a one-time admission fee of Rs 5,000 and monthly entry fee of Rs 500,” Ganguly said. The drinks would be supplied from the bar at 30 per cent discount. “For food, a separate buffet zone has been set up, where the rate would be Rs 120 per person,” he added.
