Sikkim Government in a watch-and-wait mode

सरकारद्वारा भोकहड्ताल फिर्ता लिने अपील !!

Gangtok: The Sikkim government today played the "wait and watch" game in the ongoing ACT indefinite hunger strike saga even as the state government issued 24 hours ultimatum to end hunger strike. And on the other hand it is hard to say as to how long this deadlock is going to last.
On the expiry of the ultimatum yesterday afternoon , Members of ACT feared necessary action against them to end 39 days old relay hunger strike led by Dawa Lepcha and Tenzing Gyatso Lepcha. But the ACT and its supporters have stood firm and refused to end the strike. We are ready to go to jail and make any sacrifice, but we will not give up till our demands are met, said one of their young supporters although many still hoped and prayed for amicable solution but No early end seemed to be in sight as the situation got more politicalized as United opposition political parties announced formation of Joint Action Committee to extend their support to hunger strike and call on people to save democracy against ultimatum issued to ACT.
Meanwhile,No official statements from any of the sides were released today as Gangtok went without electricity throughout the rainy Saturday. While the relay hunger strike continued at BL House, Dawa Lepcha and Tenzing Lepcha are at STNM hospital.
