Several Roads blocked in Sikkim


Landslides hit Sikkim.25 Houses Damaged In Ravangla

Gangtok,July26 :The incessant rainfall caused heavy damaged to many houses and roads within last seven days in several parts of Sikkim. Some houses were damaged at Ronpoo and South Sikkim. The incessant rainfall caused heavy damaged to the road at Kolej Khola and another road linking Jorethang and Legship on July 16 and it is understood that it will take time to restore the vehicular movement in this road. As a result, people are facing trouble in this area.
Geyzing's two landslides continues to cause problems although one has been restored,other still remains troublesome.These two landslides - one at Legship-Tashiding-Phatak and other at Kalej Khola on the Legship Jorethang Road occurred on July 16 and snapped the two entry points into Geyzing .
Heavy rainfall on 18 July caused two houses,belonging to Dawa Tshering Bhutia and Sonam Bhutia at Samrok Village in Sattam block under Ralong constituency has reported to have suffered major damages.Both families were evacuated and are being provided alternate shelters.
DC (south) D.Anandan accompanied by SDM Ravangla, Norzing Tshering visited the affected areas of Ravangla wherein 25 houses were declared unsafe after spot survey.
