SIKKIM LIFTS BAN ON POULTRY PRODUCTS

RANGPO: The State Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Service Department, has lifted the ban on poultry birds and eggs coming in from outside the State.

The Department has banned the entry of poultry birds and eggs from outside the Sikkim on May 8 following the reports of a bird flu outbreak in Siliguri, the main supply market for Sikkim.

After the bird flu situation was analyzed and it was confirmed that the deaths of poultry birds in a farm in Siliguri was not because of avian flu, the ban was lifted from yesterday.
