Chamling for bureaucrats to keep away from politics

GANGTOK, MAY 18: Sikkim chief minister Pawan Chamling has asked bureaucrats to keep away from politics and work hard to ensure the development of the state.
At a meeting organised to commemorate the 33rd state day, the CM said the Sikkim government employees would face suspension if they fail to join duties within the stipulated period after being transferred.

The slow or no implementation of government programmes and policies decisions had earned Chief Minister's irk and he spared no breath in lambasting the bureaucracy for not delivering."You all have a responsibility towards the Government and people. As a Public Servant, you are required to adhere to the policy decision taken by the Government and ensure that they get implemented. But this is not happening"he said.

"Those of you in high office shave to now become more pro-active and people centric. You all have to adopt a positive attitude and work collectively for the welfare of the people and the State. If the public servants indulge in dirty politics and try to undercut the welfare of the people,I will not hesitate to take strong actions. First resign and then play politics. If anyone is found inefficient and complacent,I will issue suspension order immediately. I will ensure that the person is not promoted,no matter how long he or she has been in service I will bonsai the public servant if he or she is working against the welfare of the people and government,he warned.
