Sikkim celebrated 197th Bhanu Jayanti

Gangtok, July 13th : The 197th Bhanu Jayanti was celebrated in a grand manner here in the Sikkim.The celebration started with a sovayatra at 9 am starting from Bhanu Udhayan till Titanic Park, Mahatma Gandhi Marg. The sovayatra was addressed by the Governor BP Singh in the morning were he said that Bhanu Jayanti must be celebrated as the festival of learning, adding more he stated that from Adhi Kavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya every individual must take an inspiration. Furthermore Governor urging the parents across the state informed that ‘the vision of making Sikkim a literate state every citizens must come forward and support the cause, and stated that the whole hearted participation of all is must to turn Sikkim to a knowledge based society’. Adding further, Governor requested the organizing committee of the 197 birth anniversary of Bhanu Bhakta to celebrate the Bhanu Jayanti of 2014 which is the bicentenary year of BhanuBhakta in the grandest manner compared to earlier ones and set an example of celebration to all the States across the nation.After the dismissal of the sovayatra at MG Marg, the cultural program kicked off at MG Marg its self were various Jatiya Sangh, Sansthan, NGO’s, associations, organizations presented their culture and besides that the cultural competition was also held in the same venue where the competition amongst the various clubs and schools across the state took place.Soon after drawing the curtain off the cultural program the final program or the main celebration started at Tashi Namgyal Academy, auditorium hall by 2 pm onwards where the Chief Guest of the program was Speaker, State Legislative Assembly Mr. KT Gyaltshen along with Minister HRDD Mr. NK Pradhan, Area MLA (Gangtok) Mr. Dorjee Namgyal accompanied by Deputy Mayor (GMC) Mr. Shakti Singh where as the guest of honor for the said celebration was the 2011 Bhanu Puraskar Awardee Mr. Pradhumna Shrestha and the celebration or the program was chaired by Minister UD&HD cum the president of the 197 Bhanu Jayanti Celebration Committee constituted under Nepali Sahitya Parishad, Sikkim Mr. D B Thapa.During the program the three finalists of selected schools like Tadong, Deorali Girls, Modern SSS performed the Ramayana Path where as in the open category already selected candidates like Ms. Mantrana Dahal, Mr. Gopal Pathak even presented the Ramayana path.
Furthermore a poetry recitation competition finale was also conducted where the competitors from schools selected by the committee like Sichey School Ms. Kabita Mangar recited her poetry followed by the participant of Tadong SSS Mr. Kamal Kharel and finally by the student of Deorali Girls SSS Ms. Binita Sharma respectively where as in the open completion conducted in poetry recitation Mr. Arjun Piyush was declared as the winner, the second place was accorded to Mr. Gopal Pathak and the third by Mr. Lal Bahadur Tamang.197th Bhanu Bhakta Celebration committee 2011 even facilitated the CBSE school students of classes 10 and 12 who had scored the highest marks in the Nepali subject during the boards examination this session where by in the 12th standard category the student of Namchi Girls SSS
Ms. Celina Rai was facilitated with a certificate and a cash incentive of Rs. 5000/- like wise in the tenth standard the student of Rabongla SSS Ms. Nikita Chettri was also felicitated with a certificate and acash incentive of Rs. 4000/- respectively.

further,four more other individuals were felicitated during the program like Mr. Dup Tshering Lepcha with Nepali Sahitya Sewa Shree, Mr. BP Kennel with Nepali Patrakar Shree, Mr. Tika Dhungel with Nepali Sahitya Srijana Shree and Ms. Sonam Doma Bhutia with Nepali Kala Shree Samman respectively. Furthermore this year Bhanu Puraskar was presented to Mr. Pradhumna Shrestha considering his contribution to the Nepali Language along with the protection, promotion and the safeguarding of the Nepali Literature till date and the Puraskar was awarded from the hands of the Chief Guest Mr. KT Gyaltshen.Adding more it was also informed that all the winners of various competitions conducted would be awarded with a certificate along with a trophy and all the participants who took part in all forms of completion will also be a presented with participatory certificate by the organizing committee.
