The Indo-China Border Trade via Nathu- la begins today

Gangtok: The Nathu-la border trade with Tibet Autonomous Region of China  started on May 2, official from Government of Sikkim said here today.
The border trade through Nathu La  started on May 2 and will continue till November 30 when the pass at 14,420 ft closes down for winter, the Commerce and Industries department Deputy Secretary Sumita Pradhan said here. Under the bilateral agreement between India and China, there are 29 exportable items. Sikkim traders are allowed to export them to TAR. But the Indian business community can import only 15 items.
There was no trade held today as there was bad weather conditions due to heavy snowfalls.There were 30 vehicles from China entered into nathula today to open trade for this season.

 The trade though the Nathu La pass started in 2006.
