SIMFED interacts with Sikkim farmers


Pakyong,Nov04: An interactive session with the growers of Sikkim at Block level, organized by Sikkim State Co-operative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd (SIMFED), was held Tuesday here at Community Hall for Block Administrative Centre, Pakyong, which consists of eight gram panchayat units. Resource persons of the program were Deputy General Manager Marketing SIMFED Mr. PK Mukhia, Deputy General Manager Floriculture SIMFED Mr. Kailash Rai, Mr. PR Sharma Inspector Floriculture Pakyong Sub-division and Mr. DB Gurung Inspector Agriculture Pakyong Sub-division. Also present in the program were Zilla panchayat and gram panchayat members of the eight GPUs and local farmers.
Mr. PK Mukhia DGM Marketing SIMFED said that the program was organized in all the blocks of Sikkim in order to have close contact between growers and SIMFED so that any product of agriculture and floriculture grown by the farmers may get good marketing through SIMFED. He urged the growers to inform the department in advance of any product produced by them in order to have good marketing.
Mr. Kailash Rai DGM Floriculture, SIMFED, among others, also spoke on the occasion and urged farmers to be more productive and get benefits of marketing as well as to get good prize for their products from SIMFED. He said the department is ready to provide good prize and supply in the national and international market if the growers supply good products in time.
Interactive session was held between the resource persons and the farmers on seasonal and beneficial production and marketing. One Collection Agent from each gram panchayat unit was selected who will coordinate between the growers and the SIMFED for marketing the products produce of the growers.
