RCT Nepal enters semi-final of Sikkim CM Gold Cup


Namchi,Nov19: The third quarter final match of the 5th CM Gold Cup football was played Tuesday here at Bhaichung Stadium between African XI of Kolkata and the RCT Nepal, which was witnessed by a huge gathering of football fans of the state cheering the teams.
Players of both the teams played spiritedly and skillfully during the first half and a number attempts were made in the goal posts by both. In 35th minute of the match RCT Nepal broke the strong defense of African XI and a goal was scored by Deepak Rai (17) giving Nepal a lead of 1-0. Thereafter players of African XI made several attempts for an equalizer but the score board remained unchanged in the half-time.
In the second half both teams mounted attacks. In 68th minute Stanley (12) of the African team scored the equalizer. African XI continued their attack putting Nepal on the defensive. At the end of 90 minutes the final score was a tie 1-1, which led to the penalty shootout for both the teams.
In the tie breaker, RCT Nepal did not miss any while the boys of African XI missed the three chances. AS a result, RCT Nepal came victorious over the African XI with the final score of 4-2. With this victory RCT Nepal entered the semi-final of the tournament to play against Army XI (Red) on 19th November. The fourth and the final quarter final match of the tournament will be played Wednesday between Friends Club Kathmandu and Gorkha Bridget.
