Sikkim CM Chamling leads beautification drive to small towns




Gangtok,October10: The Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling accompanied by UD&HD Minister D.B.Thapa, Tourism Minister Bhim Dhungel, Industries & Excise Minister Neeru Sewa along with senior government officers, MLAs undertook a tour of Ranipool ,Singtam,Rangpo and Melli to assess the potential of tourism and industrialization of areas as well as steps to be initiated to further beautify these locations.

Chief Minister Chamling decided that a truck terminal for organised parking of trucks be constructed in Ranipool area as well as tourist amenties nearby Singtam and upgradation and beautification of Rangpo town be undertaken by concerned department at earliest.


The officials from UD & HD department made a presentation of master-plan drafted for the proposed beautification of Rangpo town as gateway to East and North Sikkim. The BRO officials also attended the meeting and made their presentation on plans to expand the roads from Hospital Area to Rangpo Phatak after the festival of Diwali.
The Sikkim Chief Minister & team than proceeded to Melli and gave directives for similar upgradation of town as gateway to South & West Sikkim.
