“Learn to live together” children’s camp starts in Gangtok

Gangtok,October27: A 5-day regional camp for children of North-East States to “Learn to live together”, organized by State Council for Child Welfare (SCCW), Gangtok, was inaugurated at Paljor Indoor Gymnasium hall on Monday. The camp is sponsored by Indian Council for Child Welfare, New Delhi.
Governor Mr. Balmiki Prashad Singh and Mrs. Karuna Singh, chief guest and guest of honour on the occasion, did the the inauguration by lightening lamp. Around 100 children of Northeast in the age group 6 to 14 years are participating in the camp to be taught painting, sports, cultural programme and other activities in a group.
Addressing the children the Governor said, children are future of nation the nation. He mentioned Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawarlal Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, Rani Laxmi Bi an others for their role in nation building. “It is a computer age. We should give computer education to the children because through this education Kranti will come”, the Governor said adding, “Sikkim has already introduced computer education in every school”. Good and quality education is necessary for the children, he said. Dr. Bela Cintury, President of SCCW gave welcome address. Traditional cultural programme was presented by the children of Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim. Participants from other states are yet to arrive.
