Former Sikkim CM Bhandari celebrates 69th birthday



Gangtok, 5 OCT: Former Sikkim Chief Minister and the state unit Congress President Mr Nar Bahadur Bhandari today celebrated his 69th birthday and vowed to serve the people till his last breath.
A stream of people from across the state visited him at the party office at Development Area and greeted him on the occasion of his birthday and wished him a long life.
Mr Bhandari, who has been out of power for over 15 years, acknowledged the greetings by his party men and followers and pledged to serve the people of Sikkim till his last breath.
In a lighter vein, the former chief minister said, “I have become old now, but the tag of ‘buddha’ (old man) has been attached to me since a long time as people had started calling me ‘buddha’ at the age of 39 years on assumption of the post of the chief minister in 1979.”
