17th Mountains Corp organise Diwali Mela in Gangtok








Gangtok,October18:A Diwali mela was organized by the 17th Division Mountain Corps at the Libing Helipad in Gangtok, on October 18 for its troops and their families today. The mela was inaugurated by president, army welfare organization. The mela provided an opportunity to the troops to take a break from their hectic schedule and spend some time with their families on the occasion of Diwali. On display in the mela were the united colours of India with the participating troops showcase the diverse culture and cuisine from their region. The Diwali mela also marked Diwali Rafle draw and a cultural programme by a local troupe.

There were many stalls displaying handicrafts and other attractive items, which were a big hit with all the children. Various games were organised, with attractive prizes, and these were keenly contested by all.

Many food stalls catered to the ravenous appetites of the visitors, and the delicacies vanished in no time. It was a memorable day for all, a day of fun, frolic and bonhomie that will be remembered fondly forever.The function was attended by all officers and men of the station their families, as well as civilians.
