Sikkim approves revised pay structure for govt employees

Gangtok, Sep 18 : The Sikkim government has approved the recommendations of the Fourth Pay Commission and approved the revised pay bands with grade pay and allowances proposed by the commission with modifications, an official release informed.
The decision to approve the recommendations and revised pay bands of the Fourth Pay Commission was taken during a Cabinet meeting held yesterday.

The effective date of new pay bands will be retrospectively from January 1, 2006, and the allowances will be admissible only from April 1, 2009, the release said.

The Fourth Pay Commission had been constituted on August 18 last year. The commission had submitted its report to the state government and a committee had been constituted, headed by state additional chief secretary, to examine the recommendations.

The committee had submitted its report to the state government on September 11 following which the Cabinet approved the revised pay structure for state government employees.
