Tendong Lho Rum Phat @ Gangtok college auditorium
Gangtok Aug08 : On the occasion of a two-day Tendong Lho Rum Phat celebration, a literarily programe organized by Mutam Chi Aree Tarhat Promzum in collaboration with Rong Ong Sezung was held at Sikkim Government College auditorium on Friday. Mr. Sonam Gyathso Lepcha, state power minister, was chief guest of the programme and Mr. L.M. Lepcha, MLA, Nathang Machong constituency, was guest of honour.
On the day, three events were organized for students - debate, quiz and extempore speech.
Three students each from Khamdong Sr. Secondary School and Mangan Sr. Secondary School participated in the debate competition on the subject: “Daughter has also right to claim property inheritance”. Khamdong was first and Mangan second.
In quiz competition, two students each from Louing Sr. Secondary School (East), Govt Sr. Secondary School (North) and Lingee Sr. Secondary School (East) participated. Lingee stood first, Louing second.
In extempore speech Inchey school, Ranka and Ranipool students were first second and third respectively. Participants spoke in Lepcha in all events. The chief guest Mr. Lepcha gave the prizes to the students. He appreciated the endeavour of organizing committee to uplift the Lepcha language and said students and the young generation should come forward to conserve and develop Lepcha language and society.
On the day, 14 Bungthing (priests) performed pujas and distributed Prasad to the devotees.
