Sikkim CM Pawan Chamling proposes construction of statues/temples


Gangtok,August15: Sikkim Chief Minister, Pawan Kumar Chamling today announced construction of a number of statues and temples to promote religious ethos among the people and to develop the structures as spiritual tourism.

"We have proposed to build a number of spiritual destinations in Sikkim, including the 135-feet statue of the Buddhist saint Guru Padmasambhava at Samdruptse near Ravangla in South Sikkim the construction of which has been going on for many years and will be completed by next year, he said in his speech on the occasion of the 63rd independence day celebrations here.

The other spiritual/religious construction in Sikkim will be the statue of Sri Janga at Daramdin, Jyotilinga Char Dham at Solophok, the statue of Bhanu Bhakta at Geyzing, Bhagwan Baba Mandir at Daramdin, Siddhi Vinayak Mandir at Rhenock, Sirdi Baba Mandir at Assangthang, Thakurbari Mandir at Gangtok and Shakti Sthal at Tamleytar Mungrang Lunchok and a Church at Gangtok, he said.
