Rangpo,August25: The final phase of plantation under Block Administrative Centre, Duga, was completed Tuesday. The plantation was done under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).
Mr. P. Pradhan, BDO, Duga, Mr. Sangay Kazi, ACF Duga BAC, Mr. B.S. Kazi, Range Officer, Singtam, and employees of Duga BAC were present on the occasion. Members of several local NGOs took part in the concluding day’s plantation drive. More than 450 saplings of Ashoka were planted along roadside of the area. Addressing the gathering, ACF Mr. Sangey Kazi said plantation will enhance the beauty of the area, adding, quality trees like Ashoka and Teak need protection. “It is not only the responsibility of department to look after wildlife and environment but public also has to play a vital role as trees and forests are public property and saving a plant is like saving a life”, he said. He urged the people to come forward to “make our state more green and rich in flora and fauna”.
