Cleanliness drive at Samdruptshe launched


Namchi,August23: The volunteers from Boomtar Gumpa, Nagdak Gumpa and Ahley Gumpa along with the Disaster management team of District Collectorate, South Sikkim, Tourism Department and Building Department conducted a day long cleanliness drive here at Samdruptshe area on 22nd August 2009 at the active initiative of DC South AK Singh who also took part in the drive.
The volunteers from the various monasteries and the departments carried out the cleanliness drive at different places in the area. Along with the Samdruptshe Gumpa, where stands the statue of Guru Padmasambhava, the volunteers cleaned the outer part of the premises also.
SDM Headquarter, Namchi, Miss Yangchen Tamang who was also volunteered in the drive informed that the cleanliness drive was carried out at the initiative of DC South. She informed that from 22nd September 2009 Samdruptshe Management Committee is organizing the annual 15-day long Vajra Guru Dhongdrup at Samdruptshe premises where renowned Yangthang Rimpoche will conduct the chanting of 10 crores Vajra Guru Mantras. More than 1000 devotees from al over the state as well as from neighboring areas and also from Bhutan and Nepal are expected to visit and attend the Puja
