Sikkim initiates programmes to provide quality education to students


As per a press release received from the Joint Director (East), HRDD, the Department of Human Resource Development is greatly concerned about the standard of education at the school level and is making all possible efforts to raise the standard and to provide quality education. To achieve this goal, various programmes have been taken up in government schools.To further improve the standard of education and to understand the problems being faced by the students especially in science subjects the Department has initiated a programme where interaction and exchange of views are held among the students, teachers and lecturers of Government Colleges in various subjects. The first school to be taken up under this programme was Chujachen SSS (East). The Secretary, HRDD, HoDs of Botany, Zoology and Chemistry of Sikkim Government College, Tadong and officials of the Department interacted with the students last week. The HoDs enlightened the students in their respective fields and also made them aware of the vast opportunities that could be taken up to pursue higher education. Apart form educating the students counseling was also given to them of the courses they could pursue after completing their schooling.The programme was received well by the students and also by the teachers. The Department now proposes to cover other schools. Besides Botany, Zoology and Chemistry subjects, the Department also intends to interact with the students in other subjects like Physics and Mathematics.
