Bhutan reaches semi-finals of All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup in Sikkim


Namchi,11 October, 2007 - The national football team of Bhutan will play the semi-finals for the All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup in Sikkim, India on Saturday, October 13. 13 teams from Nepal, India and Bhutan are playing in the tournament. Our boys won their first match against the Shaan-E club from Kolkota, 2-1, on October 6, after Wangyal Dorji and Namgay Dhendup scored a goal each.
Bhutan went on to win its second match against Nepal, 2-, on October 8. Wangyal Dorji and Kinley Dorji scored the goals.
The cup is being played in preparation for the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) championship, that will be held in Sri Lanka in May next year. The team had left for Sikkim on October 2.
