Gangtok,Sept. 27:Sikkim chief secretary N.D. Chingapa today highlighted the crisis facing the hill state in a meeting convened by principal secretary to the Prime Minister T.K.A. Nair in New Delhi.
The meeting follows Sikkim chief minister Pawan Chamling’s letter to the Prime Minister about the damage suffered by NH31A and the immediate need for restoration and upgrade of roads to and in Sikkim. Chingapa said disruption to the lifeline of the hill state had completely stopped the supply of essential commodities particularly LPG, petrol and diesel.
Chingapa also called on K.M. Chandrasekhar, the cabinet secretary, and apprised him about the widespread damages, in Sikkim due to landslides and heavy rainfall. He also attended a meeting convened by M.S. Srinivasan, the Union petroleum secretary with the officials of Indian Oil Corporation today to resolve the shortage of LPG, petrol and diesel in Sikkim.
