Gangtok,September18: There maybe no shortage of of any essential items in capital Gangtok as per state government press release ,but due to the road blockage for quite a long period now has resulted in acute shortage and in many cases of non-availability of essentials such as LPG, Petrol & Beer in FLR shops of Gangtok, besides little choice of expensive vegetables at Lal Market of Gangtok.

The All the Petrol pumps up to Ranipool are closed with prominent sign boards "No Petrol" since yesterday afternoon. Sikkim Police was deputed to distribute Petrol at Deorali Petrol pump being issued to those possessing special permits issued by District Collector Shri Vishal Chauhan with limits of 5 litres. per permit .
There were acute shortage of LPG cylinder which is slowly turning into a situation of crisis as many were offering close of Rs.1000/- for one LPG cylinder in Bazaar area but that to no avail.

Many Gangtok restaurants are reporting shortage of beer and most FLR shops already started displaying "No Beer" signs to their regular customers, too. Some says it is because of rate hikes ;other said it is due to road problems.
However,Gangtokian have not yet forgotten their sense of humour as displayed in one of the "SMS" received which goes like this :
