New Delhi, Sept. 2 (PTI): Security along the Indo-Nepal border is being tightened to check the flow of arms and the movement of unwanted elements in the run-up to Constituent Assembly elections in the Himalayan country in November.
While the Union home ministry has made a preliminary assessment of the situation along the highly porous 1,751-km border, talks between the foreign secretares and home secretaries of the two countries are due to be held shortly to discuss the nitty-gritty of the arrangements, sources in the ministry told PTI.
They said surveillance along the boundary with Nepal in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim is being increased to check the cross-border movement of mischief mongers and trouble-makers.
