Giant rock blocks NH 31A to Sikkim

Siliguri, Sept. 15: A large rock slid and fell near 27th mile on National Highway 31A, the arterial link between Siliguri-Kalimpong-Gangtok this morning, inspector general of police (North Bengal), Mr RJS Nawla said.
Nawla said there was no casualty or injury due to it. The road link was not snapped, he said adding that one-way traffic was being allowed on the road. Vehicles were being allowed to alternately move in a single file by the side of the rock. The rock was huge and needed to be blasted for its removal from the road, he said. There was no news of any fresh landslide or rains in the hills today.
People came out under the bright sun after almost a fortnight of rain and cloudy weather.
