Gangtok, Aug. 13: Beautiful young women braved the drizzle to dazzle at the poolside in Marchak today during the preliminary rounds of Thunder Miss Sikkim 2007.
The beauty contest is making a comeback after five years, thanks to the efforts of the organisers, Rotary Club of Gangtok (South) and S.K. Audiovision, a music and event management company based in the Sikkim capital. The venue for the preliminary rounds was the recently opened Smileland, a water park-cum-picnic spot in Marchak near Ranipul, around 10km from here.

Thirteen contestants vied with each other for the Miss Beautiful Hair, Miss Beautiful Smile, Miss Personality, Miss Congeniality awards. They also took part in a beach wear round. All of them made it to the finals, which will be held at Rendezvous here tomorrow.
The top three stand to win loads of prizes and a chance to represent Sikkim in the Mega Miss North East to be held later this year. All their expenses during the trip will be borne by the sponsors.
Mount Distilleries of the Begraj Group of Industries is the main sponsor of the event here and it will launch its alcoholic beverage Thunder during the final rounds tomorrow.
Rotary Club of Gangtok plans to spend the proceeds of the show on community service in the state.
