Minister R.B.Subba sore over absence

Gangtok, Aug. 20: The Sikkim minister for law and tourism, R.B. Subba, today found a number of officers and employees in the subdivisional magistrate’s office in Soreng absent without leave.
Subba had paid a surprise visit to the office in the morning during his tour of the area. He administered the Sadbhavana pledge to the government employees on the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
The minister is a legislator from Soreng, the headquarters of the subdivision by the same name, in West district.
Subba did not hide his displeasure over the “dereliction of duties” of the employees and directed the subdivisional magistrate, who accompanied him during the visit, to initiate disciplinary action against all those found absent without official permission.
