Left Parties to block NH 31 at Melli tomorrow

Gangtok:The members and supporters of left parties like CPI-M ,CPM will block the NH 31 A tomorrow for one hours protesting against the mega power projects at Dzongu in North Sikkim and in support of ACT members who are observing indefinite hunger strike for 54 days now.Left parties organisation has also demanded unconditional release of members and supporters of SPCC and SRHP who were arrested earlier this week on Sikkim Governor and Chief Minister effigy burning issues respectively.

NH 31 A is the life line of the Sikkim that connects it with rest of the country. The road blockade would be held near Melli under Kalimpong subdivision. Members and Supporters of left parties from Sikkim and Darjeeling hills will be participating tomorrow in the blockade,a press communique informed.The traffic would be brought to a grinding halt in the one-hour long blockade, it added.

However, emergency services like ambulances, police and army vehicles would be allowed to ply.
