Gangtok: Dr. Pawan Chaming Today on occasion of 60th celebration of India's Independence Day here at Palzor Stadium ,Gangtok as informed earlier has conferred newly instituted L.D.KAZI AWARD FOR DEMOCRATIC MOVEMENT in memory of first Chief Minister of Sikkim who expired last month on July 28 to two participants namely Shri TilakSingh Rai of Rhenock,East Sikkim and Balram Mangar of Wak,south sikkim of Sikkim's 1973 Movement as their contribution to the cause of democracy. Both of them have suffered bullet injuries in the1973 movement
The Awards recipients were honoured with a state citation along with Rs.1lakh each .The touching moment of award ceremony was when Chief Minister breaking protocol came down from podium to stand along with two awarded personalities TilakSingh Rai and Balman Mangar to showcase their scars and injuries sustained during 1973 March for democracy to media and public. It was a rare site of humbleness of Chief Minister Dr. Chamling.
