Gangtok, August 25: Itching powder is back in the news. Some miscreants used itching powder in broad daylight in the bazaar area on an unsuspecting person and managed to flee with his cash.An old man was robbed in broad day light at Gangtok when he was coming out from UTI bank by encasing Rs. 30,000.00. He noticed itching problem in his back and he kept his bag on the floor, by then his bag was taken away by an unidentified person and ran away. He lodged the complaint in the police and police is searching the culprit but no avail so far.
With the boom of tourism and rapid development, the urban areas particularly, the capital Gangtok and its surrounding Tadong and Deorali are now facing with a new problem of increasing numbers of thieves and looters. Many new faces or strangers are increasing daily in the area and with that, the theft, burglary and loot cases are also reportedly increasing Similarly, many cases of burglary have been reported at Tadong Daragaon area in the past.
