BCCI officials visit Sikkim

GANGTOK, Aug 29: BCCI chief administrator Mr Ratnakar Shetty along with other officials of the Board visited Sikkim today on an "inspection tour." The visit, which comes on the wake of the ICL controversy that has rocked the cricketing world, has given rise to speculations here. Although Mr Shetty chose to ignore questions on the ICL controversy and the Sikkim sports minister Mr PS Goley described his trip as an inspection tour to find out if Sikkim was ready for BCCI membership and play Ranji and other forms of first class cricket, the rumours refuse to die down. "This is a study tour and we would like to focus on the inter-school level here Mr Shetty, said. "The BCCI has asked Sikkim to focus on the inter-school level cricket so that it can produce budding cricketers," he added. Refusing to disclose anything to the press about the meeting with the Sikkim Cricket Association officials, Mr Shetty said that the discussed matters would be taken up after the Board's AGM.
