Gangtok:The finals of the Manas Chakraborty memorial Football Tournament 2007 played yesterday between Ex-Tenacians and Class XII of theTashi Namgyal Academy at the TNA ground.
President of the Sikkim Football Association,Tempo Bhutia attended the finals as chief guest of final game.Making for an interesting spectacle, the match completed its 90 minute allotted time with the score tied at 2-2. Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha and Jigmee Singyee scored one goal each for the TNA Class XII team while one goal each was scored by the Tenzing Gyatso and Milan Lepcha representing the Ex-Tenacians.
The nail biting tie breaker,however,witnessed Class XII boys defeat their seniors by a smooth win of 3-1 score and went on the win the match with final score standing5-3.
The late Steve Phipon Best Defender Trophy was lifted by the Damdi Lachungpa while Palden Lachungpa bagged the late Sonam Palzor Best Goalkeeper Trophy.
Similarly, the late Rup Tshering Trophy for best player of the match was presented to the Jigmee Singye.while Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha was adjusted the Late Manas Chakraborty Player of the Tournament.
Earlier, an exhibition match was also played between TNA Alumni Association and the teaching staff of the school in which the former students bested their former teachers two goals to one.
