SPCC DELEGATION MEETS SIKKIM HOME SECRETARY

Gangtok:A Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee delegation led by MLA Acharya Tshering Lama and accompanied by Senior Vice President Major T Gaytso, Chairman to Grievance Cell SK Bardewa and President to East District Mohan Dahal met the Home Secretary, government of Sikkim, Jasbir Singh and expressed dismay over delay in murder case trial of late Taraman Chettri and Pemba Lepcha, who were killed three years back.
Taraman Chettri and Pemba Lepcha were reportedly killed at Sevoke Road, Siliguri and West Bengal Police had suspected that the culprits are in Sikkim. The Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee expressed resentments as to why the culprits are not detained or declared ‘absconder’.
The Home Secretary, assured that he would look into the matter and discuss with DG Police Department, Sikkim to expedite the trial and get the culprits nabbed at the earliest.
Taraman Chettri was the General Secretary of SPCC and area in-charge of Melli Constituency. ‘The SPCC had already brought this matter to the Governor of Sikkim several times but expressed grief that the Sikkim Raj Bhawan was apathetic to the grievances submitted by SPCC as on date’, opined the SPCC in a recent press note.
The SPCC delegation also discussed about the government’s failure to grant compensation for the shop ransacked at Namchi for selling ‘Congress Sandesh’ bulletin, to which Mr. Singh assured to look into the same.
According to the Congress press note, Major Gyatso requested the Home Secretary to see that police do not adopt partisan attitude in Sikkim vis-à-vis all cadre officers like IAS, IPS or even IFS & DCs who should administer without any political affiliation or leaning to the ruling party which is expected from these officers on deputation to maintain law & order and uphold uniformity of law.
