SIKKIM FOREST DEPARTMENT STALLS NATHULA ROAD WORKS

Gangtok: Nathula continues to be be set with the problems and the latest one relates to administrative approval required for the work on the widening of the Nathula-Gangtok road project which was started last month has been stopped by 87 road construction Company due to fact they have not yet received a go-ahead from Forest Department of Government of Sikkim therefore they have put their road gangs and bulldozers to rest following directive from the department.
GREF official informs that work was stopped on 30May because the Forest Department have yet to receive a clearance from Union Ministry for Environment & Forests permitting GREF to undertake the road widening works along the earmarked section of Nathula-Gangtok.
