CII invites Dr. Pawan Chamling to New York


GANGTOK, JUN 9: The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) has invited Sikkim chief minister Pawan Chamling to the India Week exhibition for northeast states at New York from September 23 to 26. Chamling has accepted the invitation.
CII Northeast States Chapter chairman Dipannkar Chatterjee and deputy director general Subroto Neogy stated here that products from NE states would be exhibited for first time in the US. The five-day festival will include interaction with American investors.

Toencourage industry in the NE states, the Centre has already waived tax for ten years for the investors who will invest in the region.
CII is organising an industrial trade fair in Gangtok early December. It is going to set up a full-fledged regional office here as well.
Chamling has asked CII to promote Sikkim tourism and encourage investment in the state. He also urged it to pressurise the central government to expand the Sino-Indian trade list from the Nathula border with inclusion of Sikkim products, and expedite bilateral agreement between the two countries to start tourism through the border, making the Potala Palace at Lhasa & Kailash mansorvar lake easy to reach. Chamling also assured to come to Kolkata soon to interact with investors
