SDF celebrates Government Formation Day

TIME FOR INTROSPECTION AND ASSESSMENT: DR. CHAMLING

Gangtok:The Sikkim Democratic Front yesterday celebrated its completion of 13 years in power at a function organised in Chintan Bhawan and was attended by the Chief Minister, his cabinet colleagues, MLAs, Heads of Departments, Police Officers and other government staff members, SDF Party executive members and its loyal supports from across the state.The Government Formation Day was observed with the Chief Minister Dr.Pawan Chamling addressing the gathering dwell ed on the achievements of the SDF Government in last 13 years and the path of development it has laid for the future.
Chief Minister Pawan Chamling has said that he has always advocated Sikkim’s cause and the way Sikkim is today received at the national and international levels speak volumes about the State’s progress.
Speaking at the function to mark the 3rd anniversary of Government formation day here at the Chintan Bhawan, Mr. Chamling said that his Government’s biggest achievement has been its peace and tranquillity. “This is our most valuable asset and we need to preserve this at any cost.”
Outlining the various high points during the last 13 years of Sikkim Democratic Front’s governance, Mr. Chamling said that the integration of the State into the national mainstream was another big achievement. “We introduced Sikkim both at national and international levels. Our success in every aspect, right from economic to social growth and our people-centric policies and programmes, has made us an exemplary State and today, we are respected and admired,” he said
Dr. Chamling giving all the credit of these achievements to the peace loving people of sikkim who have made Sikkim an state that always stands on top of list when the word peace is used.Chief Minister has emphashized that SDF government has always centered its policy on infrastructure and economic development of the people. One of the focal point of CM's address was the successful and policy of his government to continuous decentralization process for devolution of powers to the grassroots level.Urging the BDO's and district officials to work sincerely for the rural people that Chief Minister called upon the departments heads to sort out the confusion related to power decentralization. It was highlighted that Sikkim was the first state to open libraries at Panchayat level; Implementation of Green State Mission was another such feat for which government has allotted 1% of its budget and also making more efforts on the environment awareness and sikkim is the first state to spend 31.3% of its budget only on social sector.
He also mentioned that opposition parties in sikkim are not playing a constructive role in development of state but mostly are engaging in low level politics aimed at misleading the people and he stressed," I have always kept my family and my politics separate".
The gathering was also addressed byUD&HD Department minister D.D. Bhutia. Book on the work of Chief Minister Dr. Chamling was also released on the occassion by the SLA Speaker DN Takarpa.


The Programme was started with the welcome address by the Additional Chief Secretary,TT Dorjee and Vote of Thanks by the IPR Secretary M.G.Kiran.
