Panchayat election : The political hustle begins

Gangtok:Now the restlessness of political parties has begun for their political campaigning as the house to house enumeration for the ensuing Panchayat and municipal election has been started by the government under the supervision of District collect orate. According to Information and Public Relation Department the enumeration began with Segregation of ward-wise Electoral rolls which had started on15 May and will be ended on 14 June.15 June to 14 July is scheduled for data entry whereas preparation of Manuscripts and draft publication will be on 16 July. On 16 to 21 July inclusive will be the date for filing of plans and objections and from on 23 to 30 July will be for disposal of Plan Objections and finally, on 16 July the final voter list would be brought out.According to political observers this time’s Panchayat election will most probably be held quite differently than the last gone elections as this time so many political parties have showed up their presence in the political arena and are preparing themselves to contest the election. Sikkim Himali Rajya Parishad led by Dr. A.d.Subba has already threw its hat in the Panchayat election ring with its political campaigning “ Jana Sampark Abhiyan” and taking out rally at Namchi bazaar on 10 May. Besides, SHRP is trying to show their political activeness by meeting the central leaderships of Delhi. Of late, on Tuesday Dr. A.D. Subba led delegation of the party met Prakash Jaiswal, Union home minister for state and Chandra Shekhar, Union rural and management development minister in Delhi and submitted its memorandum containing the SDF atrocities and the growing corruption in the state. On the another side, Sikkim Gorkha Party led by G.M.Rai has made its presence felt by holding press conferences in the capital and raising the issue of permission to hold street corners in haat bazaar. G M Rai who was a heavyweight leader of SDF once upon a time now has turned opposition with its separate political agenda that Gorkha should get their political rights what yet the existing government hasn’t given them. CPI(M) on the other hand, though has not made its political clout much in the state, its CITU, the trade union wing , has somehow influenced the workers at Yuksom Breweries ltd. However its leader Manoj Gupta says, ‘we are the first opposition to continue raise demand for the sake of workers and the people of Sikkim’ “Though, SDF maynot be toppled up but there must be some plus minus this time” Gupta said
