Gangtok:K.S.Gurung, a Lance Naik with Sikkim Police has been issued suspension order pending an enquiry by the DIG-Reserve Lines ,Shree B.K.Roka on May 17.
The rationale behind the suspension it has been informed that Lance Naik Gurung has violated the provisions of Sikkim Police Force(Disciplinary and Appeal) Rules 1989 sub-section 1 of Rule 10 of the said Rules by standing surety for Dr. AD Subba,President of Sikkim Himali Rajya Parishad Party(SHRP),along with two others in response to a court order directing Dr.Subba and Others to furnish a bail bond of Rs.50000/-each.
The Court Order on the bail bond has been issued by the District Court,Gangtok on May 01 to four members of the SHRP in response to a defamation case file by an individual.
It is informed that K.S. Gurung was at that time serving in the Special Branch ofSikkim Police.Thevery next day he was transferred to Reserve Lines where he joinedin a few days.thereafter, it is informed that he went on medical leave. A departmental enquiry already has been instituted against him.In his defence,Lance Naik Gurung says that he had provided surety to the SHRP members as they are 'close' to him."In emergency situations we have to stand up for our relatives and people who are close to us" he says at the same time denying violations of any rules.While the enquiry of Sikkim Police is still pending but the man has been suspended.
Meanwhile,in another development, SHRP delegation led by Dr.AD Subba met Union Home Minister for State,Shree Prakash Jaiswal and Union State Minister for Rural Management and Development Ministry yesterday and has submitted a memorandum to them
