Sikkim CM Dr. Pawan Chamling @"Rabong Discovered"



The six day longRabong Discovered Tourist Festival 2007 concluded today here at Cho Dzo lake premisese with Chief Minister Pawan Chamling present as the chief guest.


Addressing the mammoth gathering of people from all over the state,Chief Minister Dr. Chamling declared that the state government would continue with its focus on infrastructural developments and welcomed initiatives likes Rabong Discovered since such initiatives complemented the support structure provided by the state.


The CM assured that the State government would always support people's initiative which displayed promise to pull Sikkim out of its consumer status and make producers and entrepreneurs out of Sikkim population at the grass-root level.


Stressing on point of eco-tourism to promote Sikkim as the Perfect Tourist Destination, Mr Chamling assured that his government was constanstly endeavouring to nurture and enhance state's natural appeal to make it even more popular among tourists.


The Chief Minister further informed gathering that Rs.5 crore had been sanctioned for the construction of Lord Buddha statue and Garden at Ravangla for which the foundation stone was laid last year.


Dr.Chamling congratulated area MLA& Minister for UD&HD DD Bhutia who is also chief patron of the organizing committee of Rabong Discovered Festival (RTDC) for having organized the event successfully and in a grand manner.


The highlights of the week long festival was its cultural programmes of dance and songs


'SWAR SIKKIM', ethnic handicrafts stalls,traditional food pavellions, tribute and memorabilia exhibition of Sikkim's Victoria Cross holder late Capt.Ganju Lama and mountaineer late Sonam Gyayso for impressive numbers of visitors throughtout six days of festivities.
